Safely Across the Border

Heading across the border.
No, that's the Tijuana arch. We're definitely not in St. Louis.
At the moment, there's singing on the bus. Even after a long day of travel in which we've loaded and unloaded our many bags from the bus to clear the border. But there's smiles all around because we're almost there.
We're all successfully across the border and all of us are accounted for. Please join us in a prayer of thanks. Next stop...the City of Children. From here on out, we'll try to post various activities and updates throughout the day with plenty of pictures of the team.  As the trip progresses through the week, we'll probably get a day behind on our posts but we'll try to keep you as up-to-date as possible. We know it can be a little disconcerting in this age of cell phones not to be able to be daily contact with your loved ones. But part of this journey involves leaving behind some of things that consume so much of our time and attention, to set down our phones and look outward rather than inward and to serve. Along the way if you want to post any comments or send us any messages for members of the team, please do. I'm sure they'd love to hear from home.

Hola from Sunny San Diego

Skid gives some last minute reminders as we ready four our departure.
Yes, we have left our old lives with a good deal of baggage. But we plan to rid ourselves of most of it at the City of Children.
Thank you for your prayers. Our team of 68 people and more than 120 bags have safely arrived in San Diego (that's no small feat.) Stay turned. We'll give you the heads up when we've successfully crossed the border.

Welcome

If you are a brother or sister; mother or father; grandma or granddad; great grandmaw or paw; biological, adopted, half or otherwise; aunt or uncle; 1st, 2nd or 3rd cousin however many times removed;

If you are a friend; girl or boyfriend; coworker; classmate; friend of the family or friend of a friend of the family; brother or sister in Christ; or just someone who thought it was a cool that a teenager or group of teenagers would take a week of their summer to go somewhere and give their time and energy and resources to a group of children in Mexico and so you said a prayer or maybe chipped in a dollar or two;

If you have supported this trip or someone in this trip in any way – by encouraging them to go; praying for them and us; coming to one of our fundraisers or making one of the many, many anonymous donations;

If you just stumbled onto this Internet page by accident or by choice or by the hand of God because there really are no accidents as we see life;

Then this blog is your story as much as it ours. It is our thank you. It is our hope that God will write a story here with our lives and in our journey that will bless you, encourage you, lift you and will ultimately glorify Him and draw others into His presence.

Now.  Let’s get going.
