We would be amiss if we did not single out our dedicate kitchen ladies (and Randy) for their loyal dedication, culinary delights and fun Toy Story treats. We've said before that it's a little embarrassing to come home from a mission trip having gained weight! Thank you Deborah Garman, Nancy Bagwell, Anne Batey and Randy Hobbs for your service to the team. Thanks, too, to Kitchen Lady significant others David Garman and Sam Bagwell who are often drafted as help.
The kitchen crew misses much of our activities during the week and doing have nearly as much contact as they would like with the children of the home as we do. But their behind the scenes dedication and excellence in their work makes mealtime during our week a special time. During each meal, we also invited different groups of children to eat with us so their wonderful food isn't just reserved for the Americans. Along with great meals, the kitchen crew devised some delightful Toy Story treats for the children that helped underscore our story for the week and brought smiles on so many little faces. We also have to say thanks to the many teens who took the Toy Story treats designs and brought the to life by preparing them for the children. It was a great team effort and team-building moment. Thanks, Kitchen Ladies (plus Randy)! Finally, Carol Lowe and Tammy Sandlin took over Bob Webb's traditional job of adorning the morning fruit tray with a special piece of fruit sculpture.
Food played and gathering around the table each day played a powerful role in our week. There's a reason so many important things in Christ's ministry were established or expressed around the table. Lord knows.
